3 Wheeled Buggies
A 3-wheel buggy is perfect for off-road jogging and tackling terrain, from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They are also easier to move up and down kerbs compared to 4-wheel models.
Kath who is the editor of MadeForMums reviews, has tested one of these 3-wheelers on tarmac and on various terrains. You can read her review here.
Stability

With four wheels and a central point of gravity that's balanced by weight of your child's seat, buggies with four wheels are generally thought to be more stable than triwheelers. But that doesn't mean a three-wheel buggy isn't worth considering, as some of these models are designed to handle anything from rough terrain to busy high-streets.
Choose a buggy that has large rear wheels, as well as an lockable wheel on the front. This will make it easier to drive and less likely to break off when driving on rough roads. These buggies are typically equipped with pneumatic tyres as well, which are ideal for handling non-paved surfaces and can even be used on sandy beaches or tracks in woodland.
They are also great buggies to jog with as they provide excellent stability in rough terrain and can aid you in staying with your running companion. They are also great for climbing and down steep kerbs too, and most of them come with a suspension built in that means your baby will enjoy a comfortable ride.
A stroller with three wheels isn't easy to maneuver due to its wide frame. It is more difficult to maneuver through doorways and narrow spaces than a 4-wheeler. Some manufacturers have addressed this problem with a clever design which turns the wheels upside down when they are not in use. This reduces their dimensions and makes it easier to maneuver through doorways.
If so, check for a lie-flat positioning and whether the design is compatible with second seats and buggy boards (if you'd like to add a toddler onboard). If so, ensure that it is in an upright position and if the design is compatible with second seats and buggy boards (if you want to add the toddler to the buggy). A majority of 3-wheelers can fold flat, and later be stacked upright. This is a good option for those with limited space in your boot or limited storage at home. However, some will require you to take out the front wheel prior to folding if you wish to fit into more compact spaces.
3 wheel buggy -wheeled buggies generally provide better maneuverability than four-wheeled pushchairs. A lot of them feature a swivelling wheel on the front which allows you to steer and change direction using just one hand. Some also come with a lockable front wheel that can provide security on more difficult terrain. Some models can be used with an additional seat or buggy board if you're planning to expand your family.
If you're considering taking your three-wheeled buggy off paved tracks, it's worth selecting a model equipped with tyres filled with air (also called pneumatic tyres) that can withstand the most challenging terrain. These tyres might need to be pumped up from time to time, but they will be more durable and puncture-proof compared to solid tyres. Choose a model that has a a lockable swivelling front wheel to help you negotiate tricky surfaces.
When folded, three-wheelers may be heavier than buggies with four wheels because of the single wheel on the front. Make sure the model you choose can fit into the boot of your vehicle and can be sat up should it be needed. Some models fold using one hand, and they can be raised when folded. This will save space in small car boot.
A good 3 wheel pushchair is able to cope with any terrain, from busy streets to tracks through woodlands. However, it is important to consider the purpose you'll use for your day-to-day use. If you'll be doing the school run with it, it must be able handle steep slopes and kerbs. If you plan to jog with it, make sure it has a swivelling'stretch front wheel' that is locked. This will keep the ride in place.
MFM reviewer Kath discovered her three-wheeled buggy was able to handle well on rural and urban walks. Kath noted that it was able to navigate cobbles, rocky paths and uneven pavements easily and felt pleasant when jogging. It is also a good option for day trips because it has a lot of storage space. It has an enormous, spacious, zip-top basket that is covered and an extendable, 50+ UV hood. It can also be modified to accommodate babies from birth using a lie-flat seat or a carry cot, as well as being compatible with a variety of popular second-seats and buggy boards.
Fabric Sling Seat
The main difference between a fabric and a modular seat is the fabric sling. It is placed inside the frame of the buggy as opposed to being placed on top like a modular chair. This enables a much more ergonomically-correct position for baby and instantly provides a lower centre of gravity that is at the proper height. This results in a smoother push, a more light curb-pop (you do not have to exert the same effort and weight to lift the buggy off the curb) and more stability and balance.
The sling fabrics that are used in these kinds of buggy seats are also extremely durable and easy to clean. Made specifically for applications for sling chairs in mind they are durable and extremely breathable. They also have a great aging resistance and are very easy to clean using mild soap and water.
If you're a jogger or you like off-roading, then an all-terrain buggy is more suited to your needs than a four-wheel buggy. These styles tend to have a wider base, more stable, and utilise tyres with air for agile smooth movement on rough ground.
Maxi-Cosi, a name that is well-known for its car seat range and has now added a brand new 3-wheeler called the Stella to its range of products. The all-terrain buggy has a large spacious and impressively growing travel system seat unit that can be a world-facing or parent facing and reclines flat thanks to a new 5-point safety harness. It can be used with a car seat or carrycot from birth. It comes with an ample shopping basket.
Created for the most discerning buggy owners this luxury 3 wheeler is as beautiful to behold as it is to use. The angular frame features a stunning pewter finish with accents of burnished aluminium. It is a real show-stopper. A big, padded seat that can be world or parent-facing with an improved 5-point safety harness, as well as a full set of rain covers make this an ideal choice for active parents.
Modular Seat
Modular seating offers an array of configurations to meet various seating requirements. If you want a cozy setting for watching movies or a spacious configuration to entertain guests, modular seating can be adjusted easily. Many modular seating systems also come with removable cushion covers, making it easier to clean spills and stains.
Modular Seating is available in different designs to complement your current decor or as an accent piece. You can choose from a wide variety of colors, fabrics, and shapes to create an elegant and modular seating design that fits your personal style. Modular seating also comes with a variety of practical features, like hidden storage compartments for easy storage.
3-wheel buggies offer more stability than strollers with four wheels, which makes them ideal for off-road or all-terrain adventures. The huge, highly maneuverable front wheel allows for agile and smooth movement, whilst the tyres are typically air-filled and feature suspension, allowing for a smooth ride on the most difficult trails and roads. The wheels are not as close to the ground on these pushchairs, as they are on four wheeled pushchairs. This makes them ideal for walking uphill.
Often 3-wheel prams are a favorite for parents who love running and jogging with their baby as they offer great mobility and are much more sleek than their 4 wheel counterparts. The GB Upp XL, for example, has an elegant burnished aluminum frame with a quick, one-handed fold and rear-facing and forward-facing seats. The Babyzen Yoyo, on the other hand, comes with a black frame with a carrycot that can be set in a full lie-flat position and air-filled tyres.
Mountain Buggy Sport verso is another excellent all-terrain option. It's extremely lightweight and extremely maneuverable, as well as fashionable. This is a buggy that is truly future-proof for your wallet and can be used from birth with the included carrycot all the way to toddlerhood using the seat that can be rearranged (and beyond!). It does this all within the footprint of a single buggy.
The most recent model, duet(tm), is a side-by-side vehicle that's small enough for urban living, yet big on innovation and control. It features a unique fabric seat that is placed snugly within the frame at the right height for weight distribution. This makes it easy for jumps over kerbs, and navigates neighborhoods and cities.
